Barratt David Wilson Homes South West is committed to making a lasting impact through its support for Star Scheme. This initiative originated at Chew Valley RFC in 2020 with a mission to transform the lives of young people using the sport of rugby as a catalyst.

The comprehensive support provided by the Star Scheme encompasses essential training and match kits, transportation to and from sessions, club subscriptions, and tour costs for players and their parents. Nutritional needs are addressed through post-match and training meals. However, the program extends beyond the field, focusing on the training of club coaches and providing one-on-one coaching when required. This holistic approach underscores the program’s dedication to building relationships, nurturing players, and positioning the rugby club at the heart of the community.

Barratt David Wilson Homes South West has set a lofty fundraising goal of over £40,000, mirroring the amount contributed to its previous charity partner, Sarcoma UK. The team has already made significant strides by raising nearly £3,000 for Star Scheme through sweepstakes, furniture sales, and a sponsored cycle by sales manager Adrian Wait from Weston-super-Mare to Telford. Additional fundraisers throughout the year, culminating in a gala dinner in April, are anticipated to further boost the fundraising efforts.

Dan Wooler, Founder and Chair of Trustees at Star Scheme, expressed gratitude for Barratt David Wilson Homes South West’s ambitious target, outlining the potential impact on expanding the initiative to local grassroots clubs and collaborating with schools. He highlighted the transformative effect £25,000 could have on engaging youth in the sport and providing support to those facing ACEs.

Louise Ware, sales director for Barratt David Wilson Homes South West, commented on the alignment of values between Star Scheme and the housebuilder. She emphasized the excitement within the company to contribute to this worthy cause and the prospect of creating positive change in the communities they serve.

As the partnership unfolds, Barratt David Wilson Homes South West’s commitment to fundraising and raising awareness is expected to shine a spotlight on the exceptional work carried out by Star Scheme’s dedicated volunteers throughout the year.
