Arrest Made Following Theft of Charity Boxes

A man has been arrested in connection with a series of break-ins at businesses in Swindon, which took place earlier this month.

The arrest follows reports of three burglaries that occurred on 9th August, targeting Dotty’s Café, Expressions, and Greggs in Havelock Square.

The suspect is believed to have used a beer keg to smash his way into Dotty’s Café and Expressions, where a charity box was stolen from the latter.

Later, the same individual is thought to have broken into Greggs using a concrete bollard to gain entry, making off with another charity box containing around £60 intended for charitable causes.

After several days of enquiries, officers have now arrested a local man in his 40s on suspicion of three counts of non-dwelling burglary. The suspect remains in custody at Gablecross Police Station, where he is being questioned by detectives.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are appealing for anyone with further information regarding these incidents to come forward.
