A young man is in hospital with severe head injuries following a serious collision involving a petrol-powered go-kart on the Hawksworth Trading Estate late last night.
Emergency services were called to the scene shortly before midnight on 15th September after reports that the go-kart had veered off the road and collided with a bollard on Newcombe Drive.
The driver, a man in his 20s, is believed to have sustained potentially life-changing injuries and remains in hospital.
Newcombe Drive has been cordoned off while officers from Wiltshire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Team (SCIT) continue their work.
The road is expected to reopen around midday today.
Police are keen to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage from the area around the time of the collision.
A police spokesperson urged anyone with information to come forward. “We are appealing to anyone who may have seen the go-kart or captured any footage on their dashcams to contact our investigation team as soon as possible.”
