Annington, the refurbisher of former Ministry of Defence (MOD) housing, recently played host to students from Preshute C of E Primary School at its new Devizes development, offering them insights into sustainable building practices.
Year 6 pupils had the privilege of engaging with the site team and Annington Project Manager, Scott Page, gaining valuable knowledge about energy-efficient homes designed for smarter living, ahead of the class starting their own sustainability topic in school.

During their visit, the pupils actively participated in ongoing construction activities, gaining firsthand experience of the sustainable construction methods employed for the EPC A-rated homes.
The development, comprising five four-bedroom homes, showcases smart green technology such as Mixergy Smart Cylinder tanks, air source heat pumps, and energy-efficient appliances. Additionally, each home features 14 PV panels, brand new double-glazed windows, insulated front doors, EV charging points, and built-in energy-efficient appliances.
Stacy Whitehead, Annington’s Marketing Manager, expressed delight in hosting the Preshute Primary School students, highlighting the importance of sharing sustainability initiatives and fostering interest in the subject among young minds.
“It’s great to share our focus on sustainability at Devizes Marlborough with others,” she said. “It was wonderful to have local children visit to learn more about such an interesting and important topic. We hope the pupils learned a lot from their visit, and might even consider a career in sustainable construction in the future!”
Laura Jenkins, a class teacher from Preshute C of E Primary School, said: “Thank you to Annington for having us out to the development for such an insightful trip. As the students are learning about the importance of sustainability in school, and the steps they can take in their own lives to help the environment, it was invaluable to get to see for ourselves a development committed to green building practices.”
To wrap up their visit, the pupils were gifted reusable recycled water bottles which help to save 7,800 plastic items per year if used just three times a week instead of single-use bottles.
Upon completion, the Marlborough Close development will offer five four-bedroom homes in close proximity to the historic market town of Devizes. Residents can look forward to a vibrant local scene, including cultural events like the Devizes Arts Festival and the International Street Festival, along with scenic attractions such as the Kennet and Avon Canal.
With direct bus links to Swindon and Pewsey Station nearby, offering access to London Paddington Station in just over an hour, the Marlborough Close development promises both convenience and charm.
Prices for the four-bedroom homes at Marlborough Close start from £565,000.
