Annington, renowned for revitalising former MOD housing, is set to unveil its innovative sustainable retrofit developments in Devizes, Marlborough.
This venture seamlessly blends traditional country living with eco-friendly homes, all aimed at achieving an impressive EPC rating of A. Upon completion, Marlborough Close will introduce five four-bedroom homes to the market, available for purchase in the upcoming year.
Marlborough Close stands as a testament to Annington’s commitment to sustainability. The project involves the transformation of five previously tired and energy-inefficient properties into smarter, more energy-efficient homes. Embracing a ‘fabric first’ strategy, the development focuses on retaining energy within the homes. Cutting-edge technologies, such as the Mixergy Smart Cylinder tank, Air Source Heat Pumps, and 14 PV panels generating 5.6kwh per house, work together to harness and utilise consumed energy. The properties feature new double-glazed windows, insulated front doors, energy-efficient built-in appliances, thermal rendering, and EV charging points. The incorporation of smart green technology and appliances aligns with the growing trend among buyers to reduce their carbon footprint and lower energy bills.
Scott Page, Project Manager at Annington, notes, “Marlborough Close marks a significant milestone for Annington. Our ‘fabric first’ approach and EPC rating target showcase our dedication to long-term carbon reduction in these properties.”
Jane Harsham, Sustainability Manager at Annington, highlights the company’s role in contributing to national greenhouse gas reduction goals. She states, “This refurbishment project integrates innovative technology into former military homes, aiming to deliver smarter living and enhanced energy efficiency for future occupants.”
Devizes, a historic market town, boasts a vibrant community with independent shops and local amenities. The town hosts various events throughout the year, including an annual arts festival, summer festival and carnival, and a Christmas lantern parade. The Kennet & Avon Canal adds to the town’s charm, while easy connectivity to major cities such as Bath, Salisbury, and Swindon enhances its appeal.
