Swindon Town have confirmed the departure of forward Botan Ameen, who has completed a move to Norwich City for an undisclosed fee.
Ameen arrived at the County Ground ahead of the 2023/24 season as a first-year scholar, following his release from Queens Park Rangers. It did not take long for him to make an impression, with a series of strong performances in the Academy that helped drive Swindon’s notable FA Youth Cup run.
His form soon earned the attention of manager Ian Holloway, who wasted little time in promoting the youngster to the first-team environment. Ameen’s senior debut came against Bristol Rovers in the Vertu Trophy, a match in which he also managed to score his first professional goal.
The forward went on to make eighteen further appearances for the first team, marking his League Two account in April with a goal during Swindon’s 4–0 victory over Grimsby Town.
Ameen, who represents Iraq at international level, leaves Wiltshire with the best wishes of the club and its supporters. Swindon Town have thanked the striker for his contributions and wished him success as he begins the next stage of his career at Carrow Road.
