The key highlights of the ambitious investment plan include:

1. £90M Redevelopment of Police Headquarters in Devizes:

  • The allocation of £90 million will fuel the redevelopment of the Police Headquarters site in Devizes over the next decade.
  • The plan includes relocating the Devizes policing hub to the existing headquarters site.
  • Development of a new operational policing site, training facilities, and administrative office space will also be undertaken.

2. £19M Southern Policing Hub by 2028:

  • A £19 million investment is earmarked for the creation of a dedicated Policing hub in the South of the County by 2028.
  • Acknowledging that current arrangements in the south are not meeting operational needs, the PCC and CC are actively exploring location options.
  • Old Sarum and High Post are the two most developed plans at present, reflecting the commitment to strategically position policing resources.

This significant financial commitment aligns with the changes implemented by Chief Constable Roper in the new operating model. The aim is to enhance local policing services, ensuring a more consistent approach and increased proactive and visible policing within communities.

Police and Crime Commissioner [Commissioner’s Name] expressed enthusiasm about the transformative impact of this investment, stating, “This strategic plan reflects our dedication to providing Wiltshire Police with the facilities they need to adapt to modern challenges. By investing in our estate, we are not only ensuring operational efficiency but also reinforcing our commitment to maintaining a strong and visible presence in the heart of our communities.”

The investment plan stands as a testament to Wiltshire Police’s commitment to staying at the forefront of law enforcement practices, ensuring the safety and well-being of residents across the county. As these plans unfold over the coming years, the community can anticipate a more responsive, agile, and technologically advanced police force ready to meet the evolving demands of contemporary policing.
