Swindon-based creative agency GEL Studios has today launched what they hope will be an inspiring initiative to support local domestic abuse charities work tirelessly to support survivors, educate communities, and drive meaningful change in the local area this December.
The Advent with Purpose campaign, running from Monday, 2nd December to Tuesday, 24th December 2024, aims to amplify the voices and efforts of organisations including Swindon Women’s Aid, Sounds Like Women, Wiltshire Community Foundation, and Boyz-2-Men.
Through daily social media posts, the campaign will shine a light on domestic abuse by sharing insightful statistics, impactful stories, and resources provided by these charities.
The campaign was inspired by the Inspiring Confident Allyship event held on 22nd November at The County Ground. Organised by the Wiltshire Community Foundation it was an occasion that brought together over 100 local leaders and business owners and served as a call to action in recognition of White Ribbon Day.
Shocking statistics revealed nearly 42,000 domestic abuse incidents were reported in Wiltshire over the past five years, with victims ranging from 1 to 104 years old. Globally, a woman or girl is killed by a family member every 11 minutes.
Graeme Leighfield, Managing Director and Founder of GEL Studios, shared his motivation for the campaign: “The Inspiring Confident Allyship event served as a powerful reminder of the importance of strong allyship in addressing domestic abuse. We are dedicated to being part of the solution and utilising our resources to support those in need. We encourage everyone to become part of this movement and help foster a community free from abuse.”
As part of the campaign, GEL Studios will donate £500 to Swindon Women’s Aid for every Branding or Messaging workshop booked in December, further contributing to the vital work of these organisations.
Kate Rowland, Interim CEO of Swindon Women’s Aid, praised the initiative: “It’s great to see tangible actions coming from the recent Allyship event, and we’re very grateful to GEL Studios for including us in their programme. Creating awareness and elevating conversations about domestic abuse is critical to support SWA’s aim of a society without abuse.”
GEL Studios encourages businesses, partners, and residents to follow the campaign on Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn. By engaging with these daily posts, the Swindon community can help amplify the message, foster greater understanding, and drive meaningful action against domestic abuse.
