Lydiard Park became a vibrant kaleidoscope this past Saturday as over 400 enthusiastic participants took part in Prospect Hospice’s annual “Run the Rainbow” event.
The charity run, which welcomed runners, joggers, and walkers of all ages and abilities, was a joyful spectacle that raised an impressive £31,000 so far for the hospice’s crucial services.

The 5K course was transformed into a lively scene with colour stations scattered along the way, each dousing participants in a spectrum of hues. The atmosphere was one of pure energy and community spirit, with families, friends, and solo runners alike embracing the colourful chaos in support of a worthy cause.
The day began with a rousing warm-up led by trainers from PureGym, who ensured that everyone was fully energised before setting off on the course. The excitement was palpable, with participants eager to dive into the fun that lay ahead.
One such participant, Sam Taylor, could hardly contain her enthusiasm: “This was my first time at Run the Rainbow, and it was absolutely brilliant! The energy was infectious, the colours were amazing, and it felt great to be part of something that’s helping such a vital cause.”
Prospect Hospice’s Chief Executive, Jeremy Lune, spoke of the event’s success with evident pride: “We are truly amazed by the turnout and the generosity shown by our community. Raising over £31,000 is an outstanding result, and every pound will go towards providing essential end-of-life care and support for our patients and their families. A huge thank you to everyone who took part, donated, or volunteered—you’ve made this event a true rainbow of success.”

Run the Rainbow is just one of the many initiatives organised by Prospect Hospice to engage the local community and gather much-needed funds. The hospice, based in Wroughton, provides a range of care and support services to patients with life-limiting illnesses, ensuring they receive compassionate care either in the hospice or in the comfort of their own homes.
