94 runners raise more than £19,000 for Prospect Hospice

Ninety-four runners have raised more than £19,000 for Prospect Hospice after taking part in this year’s Swindon Half Marathon – with comedian Ivo Graham among those taking on the challenge in a pig costume.

The runners formed Team Prospect for the 13.1-mile event, raising money to support the hospice’s work providing specialist care and support to local people living with life-limiting illnesses and their families.

Among them was comedian Ivo Graham, who completed the half marathon in one hour and 57 minutes while dressed as a pig.

Graham was raising money for both Prospect Hospice and The Harbour Project, supporting two local charities through his fundraising.

Prospect Hospice was the official charity partner for the Swindon Half Marathon for the second consecutive year, with supporters also volunteering and cheering on the runners throughout the event.

Ben Lee, Head of Community Fundraising at Prospect Hospice, said the turnout had made the day particularly special.

“What an incredible day! Seeing 94 people take on the Swindon Half Marathon as part of Team Prospect was really special, and we’re so grateful to every single person who ran, fundraised, volunteered or cheered from the sidelines,” he said.

“To have already raised more than £19,000 is fantastic. Every pound will help us continue to provide vital care and support to local patients and their families.”

He added: “And, of course, a special mention has to go to Ivo. Running a half marathon is challenging enough without doing it dressed as a pig!”

The money raised will help Prospect Hospice continue providing specialist end-of-life care and support to people across Swindon and the surrounding area.

The hospice thanked everyone who ran for Team Prospect, donated to the fundraising effort or supported the runners, as well as the volunteers who helped during the event.

It also thanked the organisers of the Swindon Half Marathon for once again selecting Prospect Hospice as its charity partner.
