Are we heading for a record turnout?

Despite the inclement weather around Swindon and much of the UK, 2017 could see one of the highest turnouts for many years, if the North Swindon figures are replicated.

1st May 1997 saw 71% of eligible voters turn out to vote in a Labour led Tony Blair government for the first time in 18 years.

This years figure is expected to be higher after a late surge of applications for individuals to be added to the electoral roll in the final 24 hours with 622,398 applications processed by the Government’s Individual Electoral Registration digital service.
