Frank Greco, 59, of Leighton Avenue, Swindon, employed as a food delivery worker, has been sentenced to a significant jail term after pleading guilty to the repeated abuse of a 93-year-old woman with dementia.
Greco’s gave a guilty plea at Swindon Crown Court, leading to a 20-year prison sentence. However, he must serve at least 14 years and four months in custody, with an additional five years and eight months on licence. Beyond imprisonment, Greco is now subject to a sexual harm prevention order and is classified as a dangerous offender within his inclusion in the sex offenders’ register.
His offences, including attempted rape, assault by penetration, and five counts of sexual assault, occurred in March and April 2022 with the acts only coming to light when the victim’s son raised concerns based on footage captured by CCTV cameras installed for safety.
Despite initially denying any wrongdoing, Greco changed his plea in the face of damning evidence. The victim’s dementia rendered her incapable of reporting the abuse she endured.
Detective Inspector Rachel Hardy, the senior investigating officer, expressed the gravity of the situation, stating, “These crimes represent the ultimate betrayal of trust, Frank Greco chose to repeatedly target a vulnerable woman in her own home.
“The impact of the offending on the victim and her family has been enormous. It was extremely difficult for her family to learn of the abuse perpetrated by Greco whilst he visited their mother.
“This has been a distressing case for the investigating team to work on. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the family of the victim who have conducted themselves with dignity throughout such a harrowing ordeal.
“Our thoughts are with the victim and her family.”
