Charities are being encouraged to apply for a share of £100,000 in funding, made available through the Persimmon Charitable Foundation, aimed at supporting young people into work, education, or training.
In its second funding round of the year, the Foundation is offering two £50,000 donations to registered charities with projects designed to improve employability prospects for 14 to 25-year-olds, particularly in areas facing economic and social hardship.
Launched earlier this year with an annual pot of £200,000, the Foundation’s open application programme is designed to widen access to funding and to help charitable initiatives that often miss out on corporate support. The deadline to apply for this round is 11.59pm on Sunday 22nd June, with successful applicants to be notified in August.
Projects must be UK-based and should clearly set out the intended impact of the funding – with a focus on measurable results such as increased qualifications, skills development, or support into jobs or apprenticeships.
Anthony Vigor, Chair of the Foundation, said:
“This time, we’re particularly interested in projects that support employability among 14 to 25-year-olds. We want to hear from charities working on the ground to help young people find their feet – whether that’s through education, work placements or tailored training.”
The first round of funding saw over 800 applications, with Thanet Community Development Trust in Kent awarded £50,000 for its scheme helping people gain construction qualifications. Bothwell Futures in South Lanarkshire also received £50,000 to support school-leavers and those disengaged from education back into employment.
Charities that applied previously – even if unsuccessful – are welcome to try again. Full details and the application form can be found on the Persimmon Homes website via the Foundation section:
