Swindon finally get their new season off and running with a trip to Wolverhampton tonight and they go straight into league action at Monmore Green before a hectic Bank Holiday weekend.
The CFS Filtration Robins open their new track at the Abbey against Poole on Thursday, then heading down to Dorset the following morning for the return and a home meeting with Ipswich back at the Abbey on Bank Holiday Monday.
Club chairman Terry Russell said: “All the focus has been on the development of our new track and we’re ready to go with it on Thursday.
“But it means we start the season with four meetings in a week and it will be good for the boys to get together and show what they can do.
“It’s always a tough place to go, Wolverhampton, but we have the boys who can go well around there.”
Russell is also delighted to see the return of 2017 World Champion Jason Doyle to Swindon after a year at Somerset.
“It really is great to have Doyley back, particularly for the first season on the new track,” he said.
“But before then he and the rest of the boys have a job to do at Wolverhampton. Alun Rossiter will be telling the boys to focus on this meeting before even thinking about a big night for the club at home on Thursday.”
Wolverhampton are without former Swindon favourite Nick Morris after the Aussie suffered a wrist injury and is three weeks away from fitness.
