Health Matters! That’s the name of a new regular health programme on SWINDON 105.5, the town’s award-winning Radio Station and First City is the supporting Company.

With headquarters based in Swindon, Managing Director Stephen Trowbridge says, “Reaching individuals, groups and companies on a wide range of health issues and services, as well as talking about the latest health & social care technologies, is so important.  The more people know about what’s happening and what is available to them can make a massive difference to someone’s quality of life.  Working with the Swindon’s 105.5 Community Radio Station on Health Matters is an ideal way to help us reach a wide variety of people in the town to deliver this information directly to them locally, as well as nationally.”

Radio Station Manager Shirley Ludford is delighted with this new relationship.  She said: “Strong relationships and support is what SWINDON 105.5 is about.  We have re-kindled our health programme with support from First City and look forward to live programmes, recorded features, outside broadcasts and also capturing local positive stories which promote healthy living, gaining the right support or sharing key experiences.”

Members of First City will be shown how to use digital recorders. “Of which,” says Stephen, “we have now bought three for our staff to use so we can capture material when they’re out and about for inclusion in programmes.  This is an exciting way for us to be able to ensure our whole team are thinking about sharing information that will benefit our local community, as well as give listeners a real-life experience of different aspects of health care and what could be available to them or their loved ones.”

Health Matters can be heard fortnightly on Mondays at 2pm and then as a podcast on the station’s website www.swindon1055.com .
