Prime Theatre are introducing a new course for Swindon’s best young actors, aged 14 to 25. The Actors’ Elite, is a newdrama school experience consisting of a 10-week masterclass course for the region’s best and most promising young actors.
The Actors’ Elite will work with professional directors and actors from major drama schools and theatre companies such as the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts, the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Theatre. This is an opportunity for young people to explore their artistic voice, learn from professionals and start to imagine and shape a future career in theatre without having to leave Swindon.
A final public showcase at Swindon Arts Centre on the 31 July will shine a spotlight on each individual member.
Guiding the training is Prime’s Artistic Director, Mark Powell. He explains, “The Actors’ Elite is a chance for young people in Swindon who are serious about acting to take the next steps in their training. You won’t have to leave Swindon to get a taste of what it takes to work professionally in the theatre industry.”
Thanks to Arts Council England support, Prime is offering this course for half its actual cost at a discounted fee of £150.00. A limited number of discounted and free places are available.
Interested young actors are invited to attend a group audition this month on Wednesday evenings at the Wyvern, with a chance to meet staff and showcase their skills. Applicants should demonstrate a passion for acting, an ability to work in a team and a desire to learn and improve their skills.
