Prime Theatre have announced the line up for this year’s Young Arts Showcase. The Showcase began last year as a way to show Swindon what talent its young people have to offer. This year’s event will take place on Thursday 2 March at Swindon Arts Centre and has been produced by young people themselves. The event will include a range of live music, drama performances, spoken word and an exhibition of visual work.
Performers include:
• Drove Primary School performing poetry
• Emily Breeds, 18 year old poet reading her own original pieces
• Siobhan Male, 10 year old singer
• SWiNE sharing performance art
• Leah Crowley, 21 year old media make-up artist
• Pik ‘n’ Mix, a musical ensemble from Swindon Academy
• Erin Fletcher, 15 year old singer
• Hannah Nash, 21 year old singer
• Tom and Sam Absolom, 17 year old guitarist duo
Hannah Nash, 21 year old singer in the showcase said, “I’m excited to have the chance to sing to an audience, especially on a stage like the Arts Centre. I’ve been waiting for a chance like this.”
Emma Gray, Young Producer at Prime Theatre said, “This is my first year being involved and it’s wonderful that we’re able to produce an event like this. It’s just what Swindon needs, a platform for young people to share their talents and show what they’ve got.”
The Young Arts Showcase is managed by Prime Theatre with funding and support from Friends of the Swindon Art Centre (FoSAC).
