Wiltshire music duo Reminiscent X have unveiled a powerful and touching new song, Angel, to raise much-needed funds for Alzheimer’s Research UK. The husband-and-wife team behind the group, James and Rachel Allard, have crafted this moving tribute, drawing from their personal experience of Alzheimer’s disease.
The song, which is part of their debut album Quitters, Haters, Manipulators, was inspired by James’ own journey following his mother’s diagnosis with the illness. In a unique and heartfelt twist, Angel is written from his mother’s perspective, capturing her thoughts and emotions as she battled Alzheimer’s. The song is available to stream on platforms such as Spotify, Amazon Music, and Apple Music, with proceeds going directly to support research.
James reflected on the meaning behind the song: “Writing Angel was a way of honouring my Mum’s memory. She was always such a vibrant person, full of life, and Alzheimer’s took so much from her. But despite everything, she never lost her love for music. This song is for her, and for everyone who has ever felt the weight of dementia in their family. We want it to remind people that they aren’t alone, and that their loved ones, despite the illness, still feel the love around them.”
The duo also produced a music video for Angel, available to watch on YouTube, which adds even more emotional depth to the song. Viewers can donate to Alzheimer’s Research UK through a direct link or QR code in the video. The Allards are determined to raise at least £1,000 to aid the charity in its mission to revolutionise the treatment and prevention of dementia, a condition that affects nearly one million people across the UK.
James Warren, Regional Fundraising Officer at Alzheimer’s Research UK, praised the band’s efforts: “We are incredibly grateful to Reminiscent X for their support. The money raised from Angel will go a long way in helping us continue our work, searching for a cure and bringing hope to families affected by dementia.”
