To write for oneself is self-expression. To write for others is communication. To write fiction that is a good read is a way of approaching truths that are tricky to tell. How to do it? Here are three writers who have done it and may have some answers, especially for anyone working on their own writing projects.
Singer and author of one previous best-selling novel, Summertime, Vanessa Lafaye has now written At First Light. Set largely in Florida, it’s a story of a decades-old grievance and a promise made on a night which changed many lives, forever.
Doctor, walker, and mother, Rachel Crowther is a prize-winning writer of short fiction. Two novels by her have also been published, the most recent being The Things You Do For Love.
Keen swimmer and prize-winning writer Gillian Best, originally from Canada, is the debut-author of The Last Wave, which presents a tragic- comic portrait of family life, a story ‘soaked in empathy and salt water’.
