Thomford Academy marked a new chapter in its history by moving to Dorcan Academy and expanding its offering to cater for students aged 4 to 18.
The academy, renowned for its performing arts training, unveiled its fresh approach by allowing students to sample the newly extended classes. Following the sessions, students showcased their work to parents on the brand new stage at Dorcan Academy, highlighting their progress and enthusiasm.
Principal Dee Thompson and co-principal Nicki Rochford expressed their excitement about the move and the future of the academy. They shared their vision for providing young people in Swindon with comprehensive training in acting and musical theatre, with Thompson commenting, “It’s all about building the children’s confidence while having fun, then we take their confidence and their enjoyment and create theatre! We can’t wait to perform at the Cheltenham Playhouse next year.”
Thompson, who is also an accomplished playwright, will be writing new, original musicals and plays tailored specifically for the students. This means that the academy’s budding actors will have the opportunity to perform works that have been crafted with their individual talents in mind. Rochford added, “This really is the start of something wonderful,” indicating a bright future for Thomford Academy’s students.
In addition to these exciting developments, Thomford Academy is set to launch Thomford Tinies next Saturday, offering specialised performing arts classes for children aged 4 and 5.
