Swindon is about to receive a colourful makeover with the launch of The Big Dog Art Trail this weekend.
The trail, featuring eye-catching balloon dog sculptures painted by talented artists, aims to brighten up the town while raising funds for Julia’s House Children’s Hospice.
With the dogs starting to be installed in the days leading up to the launch on Saturday, visitors arriving at the rail station were able to catch a glimpse of one of the dogs on the trail.
The Adventure Hound, a magnificent artwork painted by the talented artist Hannah Jayne Lewen, stands proudly on display at the station entrance and quickly captures the attention, camera phones were quickly pulled out as visitors couldn’t resist capturing the vibrant colors and intricate details of the sculpture.
One visitor, Stacey Sulley, who had just arrived from Kemble, and was visiting Swindon Designer Outlet for the day, expressed her joy at the colourful canine.
“I’ve been coming to Swindon for years, and it’s wonderful to see the area around the station brightened up,” she said.
“The Adventure Hound is simply stunning, and I can’t wait to come back and take in more of the trail.”
A couple from Stroud, who say they are avid art enthusiasts, were thrilled to discover The Big Dog Art Trail during their visit. “We love the idea of combining art and charity,” they shared.
“The sculptures are not only visually appealing but also serve a meaningful purpose by supporting Julia’s House Children’s Hospice.
”We’re definitely going to do the trail and explore all the unique dog designs over the summer.”
The Big Dog Art Trail promises to be a summer-long celebration of art, creativity, and community spirit.
With over 30 beautifully designed dogs and 40 pups scattered throughout Swindon, locals and visitors alike will have the opportunity to embark on a captivating journey, discovering each unique artwork along the way.
From intricate patterns and bold colours to thought-provoking themes, the sculptures are sure to captivate the imagination of all who encounter them.
Beyond their aesthetic appeal, the balloon dogs also hold a deeper purpose. The trail aims to raise funds and awareness for Julia’s House Children’s Hospice, a vital organisation that provides support and care for children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions.
By engaging with the art trail, and bidding to own one of the dogs in the post trail auction, visitors will not only enjoy the various designs and possibly see parts of Swindon they would not normally visit, but will also make a meaningful contribution to this worthy cause.
