Award-winning Swindon band Talk In Code will celebrate the release of their new single with a launch party at The Victoria in Old Town on Saturday 17 October.
The four-piece, who blend eighties new wave electronica with the indie pop of the nineties, will release What I’ve Been Missing on 16 October, before heading to The Victoria the following day for a full-band celebration.
Talk In Code have become one of Swindon’s best-known original bands, picking up six awards at the 2025 Wiltshire Music Awards, including Best Original Band and Best Original Song.
The band have also clocked up more than one million streams, three million views and 35 radio A-list adds, underlining their growing audience beyond their home town.
For frontman Chris Stevens, choosing The Victoria for the launch was an easy decision.
“Swindon is our base, we rehearse here and we have played so many shows here over the years, it was a natural choice to have our single release show at The Victoria,” he said.
“The Vic is an incredible grassroots venue and the support we have had from the venue, and the people of Swindon over the years has not gone unnoticed.”
The band are also using the occasion to highlight the importance of grassroots venues to the future of original music.
Drummer Jamie O’Sullivan said: “Over 30 grassroots music venues closed last year, and over half of them make no profit. It’s so important for people to support these venues otherwise who knows what the future will look like for new bands and original music?
“We hope you’ll join us at The Vic on Saturday 17th October, it’s going to be one hell of a party!”
There will be another chance to catch the band earlier that day when Talk In Code perform a free stripped-back acoustic set at HMV Swindon at 3pm.
What I’ve Been Missing will be available on digital platforms from 16 October, with the launch party following at The Victoria on Saturday 17 October.
