Spinning the Wheel of Theatre: Swindon Theatres Team Gets Hands-On at Eastcott Studios Ahead of Ghost The Musical

In a delightfully messy break from the box office and backstage, the team at Swindon Theatres recently swapped their day jobs for aprons and clay, diving into a pottery workshop at Eastcott Studios to celebrate the upcoming arrival of Ghost: The Musical at the Wyvern Theatre.

With sleeves rolled up and hands caked in clay, the team embraced the art of pot throwing in true Ghost style — a nod to that unforgettable wheel-spinning scene made famous by Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore in the 1990 classic. Hosted by the welcoming and ever-patient team at Eastcott Studios, the session saw plenty of laughter, a few wonky creations, and a lot of newfound respect for the art of ceramics.

Kate Seager, Venue Marketing Executive at Swindon Theatres, said: “We’re always looking for fun and engaging ways to bring the spirit of our upcoming productions to life. What better way to prepare for Ghost The Musical than by having our staff try their hand at pottery – just like in one of the most iconic scenes from the film.”

Eastcott Studios, tucked away in the heart of Swindon, regularly runs hands-on classes in everything from pot throwing and hand building to sculpture and raku firing. Their workshops cater for all levels, from complete novices to seasoned creators – making it the perfect creative pitstop for the team’s pre-show bonding.

Ghost The Musical brings the beloved story of love, loss, and the afterlife back to the stage, combining heartfelt moments with show-stopping numbers – including the instantly recognisable Unchained Melody by The Righteous Brothers. Adapted for the stage by Oscar-winning screenwriter Bruce Joel Rubin and featuring music co-written by Eurythmics legend Dave Stewart, this musical is set to be a standout on the Swindon theatre calendar.

Ghost The Musical runs at the Wyvern Theatre from Wednesday 23rd to Saturday 26th April 2025. Limited tickets remaining: Book now
