Prepare for an evening of riotous laughter and Shakespearean shenanigans as Sh!t-faced Shakespeare® makes its way to Swindon’s Wyvern Theatre on 2nd October.
Known for turning classic plays into chaotic comedy, this unique theatre troupe has been staggering from venue to venue for 14 years, leaving audiences from Edinburgh to Australia in stitches.
Their latest offering, a hilariously inebriated version of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, has been drawing sell-out crowds during its summer run at London’s Leicester Square Theatre. Now, Swindon locals have the chance to witness this cock-eyed chaos as part of the show’s autumn UK tour.
In true Sh!t-faced Shakespeare® style, each performance features one cast member who gets well and truly sloshed before attempting to perform one of the Bard’s best-loved comedies. With drunken donkeys, befuddled fairies, and confused mechanicals, every night promises a completely different experience—neither the audience nor the cast knows what will happen next.
The full cast includes Julia Bird, Natalie Boakye, Eugene Evans, Charlie Keable, Princess Donnough, John Mitton, James Murfitt, Stacey Norris, Beth-Louise Priestley, and Stephanie Simpson. This talented group has been meticulously rehearsed to deal with whatever drunken antics may ensue, ensuring a show that is as unpredictable as it is entertaining.
Directed by Stacey Norris, with choreography by Beth-Louise Priestley and fight choreography by Robbie Capaldi, this production breathes new life (and plenty of alcohol) into Shakespeare’s work, making it accessible and absurdly funny for all.
Sh!t-faced Shakespeare® will also be performing in Bath on 5th November, giving audiences another chance to see the show—or even return for a second round with a different drunken cast member at the helm. With each night offering a fresh take, the potential for new mischief and mayhem is endless.
