Science broadcaster, author and TV personality Mark Thompson is set to bring his award-winning Mark’s Spectacular Science Show to Sherston Village Hall, Malmesbury, Wiltshire, on Saturday 6 September 2025 at 2:30pm.
Named Best Kids’ Show at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the performance blends jaw-dropping experiments with fun explanations designed to inspire children and adults alike. The show explores the strange and magical properties of matter, showing audiences that science is anything but boring.
The Sherston performance is part of Mark’s 10th anniversary tour, which also launches his brand-new project Spectacular Science in the Community. The initiative is designed to take science beyond theatres and into village and town halls around the UK, giving more families the chance to experience science in an entertaining and accessible way.
Mark Thompson, well-known for his TV, radio, podcast and theatre appearances, has lectured at institutions including the Royal Astronomical Society, The Royal Institution and the Norwich Science Festival. His books – including the popular 101 Facts You Didn’t Know About Space – regularly top the astronomy charts in the UK and Canada.
This year, Mark also launches his podcast Cosmic Commerce, exploring the fast-growing space sector from tourism and innovation to safety and security.
Speaking about the Sherston date, Mark said:
“I’m so excited to be able to launch my Community Programme at Sherston’s lovely village hall so that I can reach even more families and share the wonders of science.”
