The much-loved Music for Miniatures is making a return to the Town Gardens Bowl this Sunday, 8th June, bringing with it a splash of enchantment and melody in a brand-new show titled Under The Sea.
Following two wonderfully received performances at the venue, the musical ensemble will once again fill Old Town’s iconic open-air bowl with joy and sound, as part of the Old Town Arts Festival’s Fringe Week. With a theme sure to delight little ones and their grown-ups alike, this latest offering promises a gentle plunge into an underwater world of discovery and fun.

Aimed squarely at pre-schoolers, this 11am performance invites families to explore the sounds of the sea in a relaxed, child-friendly atmosphere. Think bobbing boats, jolly sailors, rolling waves, and of course, everyone’s seaside favourites – fish and chips and ice cream – all brought to life through a mix of clarinet, oboe and piano.
What makes Music for Miniatures so special is its mission: to give young children their first experience of live music without the formality of a concert hall. In the open surroundings of the Town Gardens, little ones are free to wriggle, wander, and soak in the sounds while surrounded by nature and community spirit.
The gates open from 10am for ticket sales, drinks and snacks, with the performance starting promptly at 11am. Tickets are a pocket-friendly £5.00 for adults and just £4.00 per child, making it an affordable cultural treat for local families.
For those wishing to secure their spot in advance, tickets can be purchased online via South Swindon Parish Council’s ticket site, or visit the main Town Gardens website at www.towngardens-swindon.co.uk for more details.
This event is part of what makes Swindon’s summer so special – local creativity, open-air music, and magical memories for even the tiniest of audiences.
