Swindon’s Old Town library is stirring up excitement with a special event in honour of World Book Day.
While the library consistently calls for locals to visit its shelves and borrow books, it also recognises the importance of nurturing a personal library at home, particularly for young readers.
To mark the occasion of World Book Day, the library is extending an invitation to children to come and select a book of their very own from the library’s withdrawn stock, to keep.
The event between 10.30am and 4pm today promises to be a celebration of literature and imagination, with children eagerly browsing through the selection of withdrawn books, each one holding the promise of a new adventure or insight.
However, availability is limited, so interested families are encouraged to make their way to the Old Town Library early to secure their chosen book.
In the spirit of World Book Day, the library hopes to ignite a passion for reading that goes beyond the confines of the library walls, inspiring children to delve into the magical realms found within the pages of their own personal collections.
