Neon Lights Phase 2 Set to Shine Brighter for Swindon’s Young Talent

Following the success of Neon Lights Phase 1, a second stage is now being introduced to widen the spotlight for Swindon’s young aspiring performers. Neon Lights Phase 2, launching on 3rd June, is a brand-new inclusive drama group designed specifically for 16 to 25-year-olds with disabilities, additional needs or disadvantages.

Building on the strong foundations laid by Phase 1 – which has already proven itself as a nurturing environment for confidence-building and creative expression – this new phase aims to take things a step further. Phase 2 has been developed to support those with prior experience in drama, offering them the chance to deepen their theatre skills and creative practice.

Jeni Burchell, Operations Manager at Reach Inclusive Arts (RIA), explained, “This next phase is about offering an opportunity to further develop talent by reaching even more young people, who might otherwise find it difficult to access the arts, giving them a platform to thrive.”

Weekly sessions will be led by professional drama practitioners, ensuring a high-quality experience where participants can explore acting, movement, devising, and performing – all within a safe, supportive, and engaging environment.

Registration is now open, and RIA is actively welcoming referrals from individuals, families, schools, and support organisations who may know someone who would benefit from joining.

Summer Ward and Leah Greenwood, who serve as Young Group Leaders, spoke passionately about the impact of drama on young people with additional needs. “We’ve seen first-hand how much participants have grown through Neon Lights Phase 1. It’s been life-changing. We’re excited to see even more young people flourish through this new opportunity.”

Sue Welsh, Arts Projects Coordinator at RIA, added, “We are enormously excited to offer this unique opportunity for young people who are passionate about theatre to reach their potential. It’s been my privilege to witness the extraordinary creative journeys that young people in Phase 1 have achieved.”

Neon Lights Phase 2 promises to bring more young voices to the stage, offering not only artistic skills but also growth in confidence, communication and collaboration – all within a space where everyone is celebrated for who they are.
