Josh Widdicombe, the much-loved comedian known for his dry wit and keen observations, is set to hit the road again in autumn 2025 with his latest stand-up tour, Not My Cup of Tea.
If you’ve enjoyed his work on Channel 4’s The Last Leg or the hit podcast Parenting Hell with Rob Beckett, you’ll be pleased to hear that Widdicombe is once again diving into the small frustrations and everyday quirks of life that make his comedy so relatable.
The 41-year-old comic, who recently embraced middle age with open arms, gave an interview where he shared his thoughts on preparing for the tour, his love for tea (which has replaced alcohol since 2023), and his comfort in life’s simple pleasures – from the school run to children’s parties.
Reflecting on his creative process, Widdicombe admitted that this tour has been a more relaxed affair than previous ones. Free from the pressures of constant television work, he’s been able to test new material in smaller venues, allowing ideas to flow naturally. “It’s like I’m doing stand-up for the sake of it,” he said, comparing the process to musicians writing songs purely for enjoyment.
The title Not My Cup of Tea was inspired by Widdicombe’s newfound fondness for British staples like Martin Parr’s photography and Alan Bennett. The show, however, takes a less lofty approach, focusing on the seemingly insignificant yet universally relatable moments of life. “There’s a bit about children’s parties and party bags,” he joked. “I take a huge pride in the banality of the topics I talk about.”
Despite being best known for his successes in television and podcasting, Widdicombe is delighted to be returning to stand-up, even if the routines aren’t topical. “I like talking about Inside The Factory with Gregg Wallace more than politics,” he laughed. His fans can expect a mix of classic Josh – poking fun at the everyday – with the self-awareness and introspection gained from his time on Parenting Hell.
Swindon fans will get the chance to see him live at the Wyvern Theatre on Thursday 25 September 2025. Expect a night filled with quintessentially British humour, relatable stories, and, of course, tea.
