Indie rock bosses INHEAVEN are strolling by Level III in Swindon on June 22 for a special pre-Glastonbury show. The gig is a particularly important night for Swindon and vocalist Chloe Little, who is a proud Swindonian herself. The band have spent the last 2 years being championed by Radio 1 and BBC 6 Music, as well as playing almost every major rock festival in the UK. Their self-titled debut album is out later this year on September 1st.
After a stint producing short music videos online, INHEAVEN’s fortunes started to look up when Julian Casablancas of The Strokes produced their single ‘REGENERATION’ through his label, Cult Records. After 3 years as a band they’ve graced stages at Reading Festival and Leeds Festival, TRUCK FESTIVAL, Y Not Festival and fistfuls more.
There’s shades of Slowdive and My Bloody Valentine on the nostalgic, cinematic Regeneration – the first song Taylor wrote – though there’s a little more melody and a little more bite than the ‘90s shoegazers. Naming themselves after the infamous lady in the radiator scene from David Lynch’s Eraserhead, INHEAVEN wasted no time getting the word out – though in their own, unique way. They set up a mysterious website with hidden videos, made fanzines (band mood boards, which they still regularly produce), produced their own artwork on Microsoft Word, and sent their songs to blogs around the world. “I’m cringing remembering emailing all these people,” says Little, “because I didn’t know any of them, I just found out who they were and sent this email with big, bold capital letters and the videos. 50% obviously went straight in the junk – hopefully they’re kicking themselves now! But surprisingly, loads of people picked up on it.”
After gracing the pages of magazines and announcing their second stint and the world’s biggest music festival, Glastonbury, the band are excited to play their first ever Swindon gig.
