Swindon’s much‑loved musical theatre company SALOS is preparing to bring a true classic to the local stage for the very first time. This autumn, audiences at the Wyvern Theatre will be treated to Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s celebrated musical Evita – a production that has been captivating crowds in London’s West End and now makes its eagerly awaited Swindon debut.
Evita charts the remarkable journey of Eva Perón, from her modest roots through to her position as one of Argentina’s most powerful and debated figures. Woven through with unforgettable songs such as Don’t Cry for Me Argentina, Oh What a Circus and Buenos Aires, the show offers an evening of drama, music and storytelling that has stood the test of time.
Director Russell Langdown shared his thoughts on the upcoming production:
“We’re looking forward to taking on Evita. It’s a challenging show in every sense, with a big score and characters that carry real depth. But challenges like this are what help SALOS to develop and keep delivering something special for the people of Swindon.”
Founded in 1951, SALOS has become a mainstay of the town’s arts scene. Over the decades they have built a reputation for bringing polished and inventive productions to local audiences, with recent highlights including Shrek The Musical, The Sound of Music, Oklahoma! and Elf: The Musical. Each show has demonstrated the breadth of talent within the group, and Evita promises to add another chapter to that story.

Evita will run at the Wyvern Theatre from Wednesday 15th to Saturday 18th October 2025. Tickets are on sale now and are expected to draw strong demand.
