With just days remaining, Swindon’s much-loved My Dad’s Bigger Than Your Dad Festival stands at a crucial crossroads. Set to bring a weekend of music, food, and community spirit to the Old Town Gardens, the event now faces possible cancellation if ticket sales don’t increase swiftly.
Since its launch in 2021, the festival has grown from a touching tribute to Dave Young – who was lovingly cared for by Prospect Hospice – into a vibrant, family-friendly celebration. The event, driven by Dave’s wife Anna Sprawson-Young and supported by a tight-knit group of volunteers, has raised an impressive £40,000 so far. That sum has funded a Clinical Nurse Specialist post for nearly a year, underscoring the festival’s meaningful impact.
Anna appeals directly to the community: “Every ticket sold makes a real difference. This festival isn’t just about one day; it’s about ensuring we can keep this spirit alive for years ahead.”
