As the festive season approaches, Corn Exchange Newbury is set to deliver another spectacular Christmas pantomime with the classic tale of Dick Whittington. Running from 29th November 2024 to 5th January 2025, the production promises magic, music, and mischief, making it an unmissable treat for families in Newburyshire and beyond.
The star-studded cast includes Harry Potter actor Chris Rankin, known for his role as Percy Weasley, taking on the character of Alderman Fitzwarren. Taking centre stage as Dick Whittington is the energetic Kai Harris, with his loyal sidekick Cosmo the Cat, played by Jade Johnson, returning for her third Christmas at Corn Exchange after a brilliant performance in last year’s Beauty and the Beast.
Adding to the excitement is Alex Crandon, playing the dastardly King Rat, whose villainous antics are bound to stir up trouble. Audiences will also be treated to a delightful performance by Scott Riney as the Dame, ensuring classic panto laughs. Meanwhile, Shannon Bourne will charm as Alice Fitzwarren, and Grace Kelly Miller will be keeping the chaos under control as the sharp-witted Detective Fairy Bowbells.
This year’s pantomime is directed by Jessica Jhundoo-Evans, with choreography by Miranda Wilford and music led by Ben Barrow. The talented creative team, including set designer Mark Walters and costume designer Carl Davies, is expected to deliver a visual and musical feast that will captivate all ages.
Corn Exchange Newbury’s festive offerings also extend to their Panto Pay it Forwards initiative, which provides free tickets to those in need within the community. After the success of last year’s campaign, which distributed 555 tickets to local schools and community groups, the scheme returns this year, allowing even more families to enjoy the magic of pantomime.
Jessica Jhundoo-Evans, Director at Corn Exchange Newbury, said: “The pantomime is a cherished tradition for us, and we’re thrilled to bring Dick Whittington to life this Christmas. It’s always a joy to welcome our local community, and we’re proud to continue our Panto Pay it Forwards initiative, ensuring that everyone has the chance to experience the magic.”
With its captivating story, a talented cast, and a production team full of festive flair, Dick Whittington at Corn Exchange Newbury is set to be a festive hit. Tickets are now on sale, starting at £20, with booking available via phone or online.
