Westonbirt Arboretum is excited to be hosting Conversations with Trees from 1st September 2017 – a series of poems written by aspiring poet, Marchant Barron, installed along the Silk Wood Autumn Trail.
Visitors this autumn can enjoy eight very special poetry installations where words will be stretched from branches to the ground; sentences will be reaching down from the boughs and falling amongst the autumn leaves. The project will have a dramatic effect on our visitors enjoying the Autumn Trail who will be invited to explore the playful words and ideas.
Inspired by specific trees, each poem is a personal response to those trees and reflects the solace and sense of wonder that these trees have given Marchant on his regular visits to the arboretum.
Marchant is a student at Bath Spa University and has been awarded Lord Snowdon Trust Award to assist him with the project Conversations with Trees and has the help of Westonbirt Arboretum staff, friends and family on a year long journey to get to this stage.
