Self-published author Paul Roberts presents Chromozone: Flesh and Blood, an original horror novel that sees Sara Greene and her young son Harry wake to a zombie apocalypse where they’re forced to battle hordes of the undead. Along with other survivors she meets along her journey, Sara must learn to do everything in her power to keep her son and her new family alive, all the while looking for her husband whom she prays is still alive.
“Several things inspire my writing,” says the 34-year-old indie author when asked where he gets his inspiration. “Horror films, novels, computer games and other reads, for starters. But my dreams play a significant role too – and I dream a lot. The subconscious mind is both a dark and wonderful place – so I thought I’d put my nightmares to good use!” But this isn’t Paul’s first indie novel – a few years ago he self-published children’s fantasy Toby Ripwood in the Dark Sphere Enigma – worlds apart from the gutsy Chromozone: Flesh and Blood.

Paul reflects on his time at school and admits that he never really knew what he wanted at the time, though he’s always been incredibly artistic, usually in the form of paintings or drawings – also heavily inspired by his dreams and nightmares. But a few years ago he decided to pursue a career in writing by means of telling stories and truly expressing his creative nature. “There’s a lot going on in the mind of us creative types,” he laughs. “Painting and drawing and handcrafting helps to a point, but there’s nothing like a good stretch of writing to clear the mind. It’s quite cathartic.”
Paul is currently battling his way through more page-dwelling undead hordes with the sequel, Chromozone: Behind Closed Doors. “If you like the first book, then you’re guaranteed to love this!” he promises. As the title would suggest, the sequel will be more revealing and will further explore the reasons behind the apocalypse. And while Paul has got his head stuck into writing, he hasn’t given up on other passions and has future plans to open an Etsy store with his wife, Karen, where they’ll sell hand-crafted goodies, including some exciting Chromozone merchandise.
The epic horror novel is available on Amazon UK and Amazon US in ebook and paperback. And you can also stalk Paul online at his local haunts:-
