Swindon’s young families are in for a treat this summer as a new original CBeebies musical lands exclusively on the big screen.
CBeebies Musical: The Great Ice Cream Hunt brings some of the channel’s best-loved faces – including Justin Fletcher, Maddie Moate, and Andy Day – to cinemas nationwide, with showings beginning in Swindon from Thursday 11th July.
Unlike previous outings, this brand-new musical won’t be appearing on TV until later in the year, making it a unique cinema experience. Tailored for children aged two to six, the hour-long production combines adventure, humour, and toe-tapping songs with original performances created especially for cinema audiences.
The story follows Lolly the cow and Pinecone the hedgehog, two unlikely detectives on a mission to solve a rather chilly mystery – the sudden disappearance of ice cream across the land. From the sparkling shores of Coconut Cove to the rainbow-hued magic of Mermaid Falls, the pair meet a whole host of characters, lending a paw, hoof, or wing wherever they’re needed.
A particular highlight comes at the Summer Fruits Festival, where a shy caterpillar must be coaxed out of his shell – quite literally – before the duo track down their chief suspect: Professor Raindrop. But in true CBeebies fashion, not everything is as it first appears.
The musical is packed with upbeat numbers, gentle comedy, and colourful scenes designed to captivate young imaginations – all set within a story that celebrates friendship, problem-solving, and a generous helping of summer fun.
