Swindon’s theatre‑goers are in for a treat this autumn as the much‑loved musical Blood Brothers prepares to take to the stage at the Wyvern Theatre from Tuesday 21st to Saturday 25th October 2025.
Bill Kenwright’s celebrated production has been wowing audiences for decades, and the 2025 autumn tour promises to continue that tradition with a line‑up packed with familiar favourites and fresh faces.
Leading the cast is Vivienne Carlyle as Mrs Johnstone, a role that has earned her nightly standing ovations and critical praise during her time in the West End and on tour. Her moving portrayal has been described as heartfelt and unforgettable, and those in Swindon can look forward to seeing her bring the character’s struggles and resilience to life.
Sean Jones and Joe Sleight continue their roles as Mickey and Eddie, the twin brothers whose contrasting lives form the heart of this powerful tale. Gemma Brodrick also returns as Linda, whose journey is deeply entwined with theirs.
Joining them are Kristofer Harding as the ever‑present Narrator, Paula Tappenden as Mrs Lyons and Danny Knott as Perkins, all returning after previous stints in the production. New faces for this tour include Michael Gillett as Sammy, Francesca Benton‑Stace in a dual role as Donna Marie and Miss Jones, and Latesha Karisa as Brenda. The supporting cast also features Tim Churchill, Dominic Gore, Alex Harland and Graeme Kinniburgh, ensuring the stage is full of talent.
Written by Willy Russell, Blood Brothers began its life in Liverpool in the early eighties, and over the years it has grown into one of the most acclaimed musicals of its time. With more than 10,000 performances in London’s West End and countless international tours, it has become known as the ‘Standing Ovation Musical’.
The score, which includes Bright New Day, Marilyn Monroe and the show‑stopping Tell Me It’s Not True, will fill the Wyvern Theatre with the kind of atmosphere that lingers long after the curtain falls.
For those unfamiliar with the story, Blood Brothers follows twin brothers separated at birth, brought up in very different worlds, only for their paths to cross again with devastating results. It is a gripping, emotional journey that blends drama, humour and music in equal measure.
