A magical festive celebration is coming to Marlborough this December as The Fulltone Orchestra presents An Orchestral Christmas at Marlborough College Memorial Hall — featuring the beloved Christmas classic The Snowman, narrated live by Aled Jones MBE.
Marking 40 years since the release of Aled’s iconic hit “Walking in the Air”, audiences will be treated to two enchanting performances on Sunday 14 December 2025, at 2.30pm and 6.00pm, celebrating the music, magic, and nostalgia of the season.
The concert will see The Fulltone Orchestra, a 40-piece ensemble of top musicians from across the South West, bring Howard Blake’s timeless score to life in sweeping orchestral colour under the baton of Musical Director Anthony Brown.
To make the event even more special, the orchestra held a competition to find two young singers to perform Walking in the Air live with Aled Jones. The winners are 10-year-old Jack from Liverpool, who will perform in the matinee show, and 13-year-old Loretta from Wiltshire, who will sing at the evening performance.
Loretta said:
“I can’t wait to perform with such an incredible singer and orchestra — it’s going to be festive magic!”
Aled Jones, who previously worked with The Fulltone Orchestra, said:
“Christmas is such a magical time, and nothing brings it to life quite like music. To be narrating The Snowman with the incredible Fulltone Orchestra is going to be really special – their sound is just extraordinary. With all the festive favourites alongside, it promises to be an unforgettable concert – and 40 years since Walking in the Air was released – where’s that time gone? I can’t wait to share it with everyone in Marlborough.”
The Marlborough College Memorial Hall provides a stunning backdrop for the evening, promising an atmosphere filled with warmth, nostalgia, and festive spirit — perfect for families and music lovers alike.
