Swindon Town Complete Permanent Signing of Defender Jake Batty

Swindon Town have completed the permanent signing of young defender Jake Batty from Blackburn Rovers, with the deal running until the end of the season, subject to EFL approval.

Batty arrives at the County Ground having already built up valuable EFL experience, adding energy, versatility and defensive strength to the Robins’ squad for the remainder of the campaign.

Born in Liverpool, Batty joined Blackburn Rovers as a teenager in 2017 and progressed steadily through the club’s academy system. He made his senior debut in August 2022, featuring in a 4–0 EFL Cup victory over Hartlepool United, before being rewarded with his first professional contract later that year.

The defender spent the 2024/25 season on loan at Accrington Stanley, where he enjoyed a breakthrough spell in senior football. Batty became a regular presence in the Stanley side and his performances were recognised at the club’s end-of-season awards, where he was named Young Player of the Season by both his fellow players and the Supporters’ Trust.

His progress has also been recognised at international level, having represented England at Under-17 level earlier in his career.

Now joining Swindon Town on a permanent basis, Batty will be aiming to build on his recent experience, continue his development in first-team football and make an immediate impact in red.

Speaking ahead of the move, Batty said he was excited by the opportunity to play regular senior football and contribute to a club with strong ambition and history, adding that he is focused on helping the team and giving his all for the supporters.

Swindon Town have welcomed Batty to the County Ground and will hope the young defender can play an important role as the season progresses.
