Swindon Town have strengthened their attacking options with the signing of winger Junior Hoilett, who joins the club on a permanent deal until the end of the season, subject to EFL approval and international clearance.
The 35-year-old arrives at the County Ground following a successful spell with Hibernian, where he played a key role during the 2024/25 campaign. Hoilett scored four goals and registered five assists as the Edinburgh side finished third in the Scottish Premiership.
Well known for his pace, technical ability and experience, Hoilett brings a wealth of top-level footballing pedigree to Swindon. His career has spanned the Premier League, Championship, Scottish Premiership and international stage, adding leadership and creativity to the Robins’ forward line.
Hoilett began his professional career at Blackburn Rovers, coming through the club’s academy before making his Premier League debut in 2009. He went on to make more than 150 appearances for the Lancashire side, establishing himself as an exciting wide player.
A move to Queens Park Rangers followed in 2012, before spells at Cardiff City, Reading and Aberdeen. During his time with Cardiff, Hoilett was part of the squad that secured promotion to the Premier League in the 2017–18 season. More recently, he has featured for Vancouver Whitecaps and Hibernian, continuing to perform at a high level well into his thirties.
On the international stage, Hoilett has represented Canada since 2015. He has appeared at four CONCACAF Gold Cups and was part of Canada’s squad at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, playing in all three group-stage matches.
Speaking after completing the move, Hoilett said he was looking forward to the challenge ahead. He said the club’s ambition was clear and that he was eager to contribute both on the pitch and within the dressing room. He added that he was excited to get started and experience playing in front of Swindon supporters at the County Ground.
Hoilett becomes the latest addition to Swindon Town’s squad and is expected to provide an immediate boost as the season enters its decisive stages.
