Swindon’s Adam Ellis was unable to build on a dream start in his first ever British Final.
The 2017 Robins’ title winner made a stunning start in his opening ride to get the better of Scott Nicholls and Chris Harris – who hold ten British Championships between them.
But the 22-year-old struggled for speed thereafter and failed to register another point from his next four rides.
Robins racer Jack Smith also had two outings as track reserve, the first of which saw him disqualified despite making an intelligent switch back to the inside after locking up in front of Wolverhampton and Ipswich man Rory Schlein.
The duo line-up for the Robins in the Premiership trip to Leicester on Wednesday (June 13, 7.30) before Swindon take on Rye House at The Abbey 24-hours later.
