Council, CCG and GWH shortlisted for special award

Swindon Borough Council, working in partnership with Swindon Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and Great Western Hospital, has been shortlisted for its excellence in caring for elderly people in this year’s Health Service Journal (HSJ) Awards.

The Integrated Discharge Planning and Reablement programme is jointly delivered by the Council and Great Western Hospital.

Reablement focuses on providing personal care for elderly or frail people in their own homes while they recover from illness or injury.

It helps ensure that hospital beds are available for those who needs them and it contributes towards patients’ wellbeing.

Cllr Brian Ford, Swindon Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Adult Services, said: “I am thrilled that we have been shortlisted for this award.

“It is a testament to the hard work that we, together with our partners, do every day to ensure that some of the most vulnerable people in society are suitably cared for.

“I give my congratulations to everybody involved and wish them the best of luck.”

Staff have been invited to present their entry to a panel of judges on Wednesday, 10 October in central London to explain the reasons why they should win.

All finalists will find out if they have won a HSJ Award on Wednesday, 21 November at InterContinental O2 in London.
