Swindon Town supporters will be pleased to hear that forward Billy Bodin is making his way back to the County Ground, signing a one‑year contract, subject to EFL approval.
At 33, Bodin brings with him a wealth of experience built across several levels of the Football League. For many fans, this move feels like the closing of a circle, as Bodin first stepped onto the pitch as a youth player in Swindon colours.
After time with clubs including Torquay United, Bristol Rovers and Preston North End, as well as a recent spell with Burton Albion, Bodin arrives in Wiltshire with over 300 senior appearances behind him. Those who have followed his career know his ability to read the game, link up play and find the net from midfield positions.
Reflecting on his return, Bodin shared: “It feels brilliant to come back to where it all started for me. Swindon has always meant a lot, and stepping out in front of the supporters again is something I’ve wanted for a long time. I know I can contribute, and I’ll be giving everything for the badge.”
He went on to explain how the move came about: “When I left, I always thought this was somewhere I’d want to return to. After speaking to the manager, this feels the right time. My family are still here, I have so many memories of coming through as a young pro, and it’s a special chance for us all to come home.
“This club holds a huge place in my heart. The manager’s plans and the way he wants me to play were also key in my decision. It’s something that excites me and gives me real focus for the season ahead.”
Swindon Town have extended a warm welcome to Bodin and his family as he begins this new chapter, with the hope that his experience and drive will help shape a strong 2025/26 campaign.
