Wiltshire Police are appealing for witnesses after two teenage boys were assaulted in the Dixon Street area of Swindon.
At approximately 4pm yesterday (27/09), an altercation took place between two groups of youths in the area by the steps (between houses) joining Stafford Street and Dixon Street resulting in two 15-year-old boys being assaulted.
Both were sprayed in the face with a suspected pepper-type irritant with one of the boys also being hit in the back of the head with a weapon. They were taken to the Great Western Hospital for treatment; one has been released while the other is still being treated.
DI Paul Hacker from Swindon CID said: “We’re still trying to establish the nature of the spray but we believe it was some type of irritant, possibly like a pepper-type liquid.
“I also want to reassure the general public that these groups were known to each other and the victims knew the perpetrators of this assault. There is no wider risk to people in Swindon.
“If you heard or saw anything suspicious in this area of town yesterday please come forward.”
A 16-year-old and 15-year-old male from Swindon have been arrested on suspicion of GBH and are currently in custody.
