Virgin Holidays are set to close their Swindon concession within the Tesco supermarket on Ocotal way in the coming months staff have been advised.

The concession opened five years ago as part of the holiday firms ‘retail lite’ concept and was one of 29 to be opened within Tesco nationwide.

We understand staff have been offered to relocate to other locations within the company in a bid to save jobs.

A Virgin Holidays spokesperson said ‘Virgin Holidays has invested millions of pounds upgrading our retail estate launching more premium, experiential-led stores that improve customer experience.

As part of this upgrade we have transitioned out of Tesco, opening more than 25 concessions in Next and several more of our award-winning v-room concept stores.

We never want to disappoint our customers and would encourage any locals to stay in touch via our call centre, website or the nearest alternative store in Oxford Westgate.

We’ve loved being a part of the Swindon community, and whilst we have no imminent plans to open a direct replacement we do review our retail footprint continuously.’
