An update from Wiltshire Police.
“Following an operation in Swindon yesterday to tackle human trafficking and modern slavery, the six people arrested have been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
The five potential victims identified during the operation were supported by Swindon Borough Council and partner agencies, including the Medaille Trust, with additional health and wellbeing agencies on standby. The potential victims of trafficking were signposted to the necessary organisations and will continue to receive ongoing support from professionals.
This remains an ongoing investigation utilising a multi-agency approach.
We would continue to urge the public to be aware of the potential signs of exploitation and use that information to report their concerns either directly to police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
We understand that there may be occasions where people want to report something but want to do so anonymously or independently of the police. They can call the Modern Slavery Helpline on 08000 121 700.”
