Three men were arrested in Swindon following a burglary at Superdrug in Marlborough in the early hours of Monday morning (July 1).

The store in the High Street was broken into and a number of bottles of fragrances were stolen. The cash till was also forced open but no cash was inside.

The offenders then travelled in a Ford Fiesta towards Swindon. Officers from the Community Tasking Team carried out an area search and located the vehicle near to the Hawthorn Medical Centre in Gorse Hill.

Nearby were three men – one ran off when approached by officers but was detained.

All three were arrested on suspicion of burglary and were taken to Gablecross custody for questioning.  The three men – aged 33, 37 and 38 and from Swindon – have been released under investigation. The 33-year-old was also arrested for recall to prison.

The vehicle was unlocked and found to have suspected stolen property inside. It was seized for forensic analysis.

Det Con Cerys Powell said: “We have had a number of commercial burglaries in the Marlborough area in recent weeks so this is really positive that we have been able to locate and arrest three individuals.

“Crimes of this nature can really impact on a community and I would like to reassure those living and working in Marlborough that we take reports of this nature extremely seriously and will always follow all lines of enquiry as part of our investigation, leaving no stone unturned.”
