Work to transform Wellington Street, opposite Swindon railway station, to make it more welcoming for residents and visitors began this week. When complete the revamped road will feature a segregated pedestrian and cycle path as well as a new pedestrian crossing. New paving will be laid and the area will be much more pedestrian-friendly so people will be met with a much more pleasant environment when they step off the train into Swindon.
The contractor Britannia Construction Limited has made great progress this week with the excavation of two areas within the footpath and kerb line on the west side. The work is expected to last four months and the road is closed to all traffic with diversion routes clearly signposted.
