Theresa May is this morning expected to announce she is standing down as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

After a number of defections and resignations from the Conservative party in the recent weeks the party leader met the 1922 Committee chairman Sir Graham Brady this morning where it is understood she is offering to stand down.

Boris Johnson and Dominic Raab appears to be the early favourites with Michael Gove, Jeremy Hunt, Sajid Javid, Matt Hancock, Liz Truss and former Commons leader Andrea Leadsom all thought to be considering a run at the leadership of the Conservatives and become the next Prime Minister.
