Wiltshire Police have issued two CCTV images in the hope of tracing a woman we would like to speak to in connection with two incidents of theft against a vulnerable man.

The victim, who is 72 years old, has been befriended by a woman, who has persuaded him to give her his Post Office card.

This has then been used to withdraw his pension, leaving him unable to pay his bills or buy food.

On 4 February £180 was taken, and on 5 February £106 was taken, and on both occasions the money was withdrawn from Post Office counters in Swindon.

PC Nia Tregunna, from Swindon North Community Policing Team, said: “This is a horrible crime which has left a vulnerable man out of pocket and confused about what has happened to him.

“We are making sure he is being provided with the appropriate support and are trying to see if the money can be refunded to him.

“The suspect has been posing as his granddaughter and this is simply not true. She is not his friend nor a member of his family, but someone who has been taking advantage of him for financial gain.

“We would like to speak to the person in these CCTV images so if you know who she is or where she is, please contact police.”

Anyone with information should contact PC Tregunna on 101, quoting crime reference 54190012363. Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
